About
My name is Rocco Georgi. Since 1999 I am building web sites and web applications, I specialize in custom as well as open source content management systems, mostly driven by TYPO3 and WordPress.
Usually I work as a subcontractor for other companies and help them filling gaps in their portfolios and abilities during projects for their customers. However, I have also done numerous projects for individual clients.Usually I work in co-operation with other freelancers or employees of my contractors and I don’t mind taking over project and team management responsibilities.
Semantically correct markup in XHTML/CSS, sticking to web standards and accessibility criteria are fundamental to my work.
Before developing web applications as a freelancer, I worked for companies such as BMW Group, Infineon Technologies and Siemens in Germany as well as in the Silicon Valley. As a teacher at a vocational school I taught students the art of coding HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
PHP is my language of choice but I keep up with other technologies as well (I can do some Ruby on Rails) to provide clients with state-of-the-art web applications. Here are some key technologies, frameworks, applications etc. that I have worked with in previous projects, more or less randomly ordered:
LAMP MVC CakePHP symfony REST TYPO3 WordPress Elgg Zend Framework MySQL MSSQL Server Oracle 10g PostgreSQL Data Warehousing XHTML HTML5 XHTML-MP C-HTML (iMode) CSS CSS3 DOM scripting JSON Ajax Hijax Prototype jQuery Ext JS Scrum Test-driven development Agile Mobile Ajax (Frost) TextMate Zend Studio SVN
Location and Languages:
I usually work remotely, but if necessary I will work in a designated space as well. Usually I am traveling a lot and most of the time I am either located in Frankfurt (Germany), London (UK) or the San Francisco Bay Area (USA). I speak English and German fluently, learned some Russian, French and Spanish, but would require a couple of weeks to get into those again.
